Why Are You Holding On?

Then he began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chora′zin! woe to you, Beth-sa′ida! for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you. And you, Caper′na-um, will you be exalted to heaven? You shall be brought down to Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I tell you that it shall be more tolerable on the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”

Why Are You Holding On?
Jesus is rebuking these places where he did these great works and saying all these great works and you didn't repent. And I think the image I get today is like seeing ourselves as one places, seeing ourselves as a place where Jesus has come and done great works. Because in my life, in your life, God has done marvelous deeds, He done great works. And have we repented? A reflex answer is yes. But the reality is, is the gospel calls us to a continual and daily conversion of the heart. A continual and daily conversion of the heart. And so, yes, do we repent?
Yes, maybe is there one big moment of repenting in our lives? Yes. And do we regularly repent? Yes, and still we need to remember that God has done great works in our lives and that He calls us to this daily conversion of heart. There’s some parts of our hearts that are 100% God’s. What I challenge you to do today is seek out some part of your heart that isn’t 100% God’s. Some part of your heart where you maybe hold God at arm's length. Maybe some part of your heart where you shut God off completely. And ask yourself, what do you have to lose by turning that part of your heart over to God? God completely 100% ask yourself why are you holding on. You know what are you holding on to? Why are you holding on to it? How is it helping you? How is it hurting you?
So that each day more and more of our heart is given over fully completely totally absolutely to Jesus. Have a great day, and remember, Be Bold. Be Catholic.
